Among the different outsourced services, cloud computing has emerged as a top priority and a long-term, cost-effective solution, according to a new report from Pyramid Research (www.pyr.com).

As mobile and fixed broadband penetration in Latin America spreads, operators seeking to rise up the value chain should consider cloud computing as a first step to expanding their service portfolio and getting in sync with global IT trends. To better understand how cloud services are developing within Latin America, Pyramid Research discusses three fixed operators in Mexico that offer cloud services, with an eye to what they understand to be cloud computing, the main reasons they adopted cloud computing and the different services they offer, among other insights.

“Pyramid Research believes that outsourcing in the form of cloud computing can not only help operators in Latin America reduce their internal costs, but that operators can also develop competencies in the area of cloud computing that can help them sell these same services to small and midsize clients needing to become leaner and more agile in a global marketplace,” says Jose Manuel Mercado, Senior Analyst at Pyramid and author of this report. “And since cloud computing rides on top of the broadband networks being built out by operators today, it provides another important way for operators to achieve an even greater return on their investment,” he adds.
