Toshiba has announced that they have developed a 128GB flash memory chip that can be used in mobile devices like smartphones and Tablet PCs.

The company said that this is the only memory unit of its kind storing so much data in a unit measuring 17x22x1.4 millimeters.

It would be made available to OEMs in September this year. They are aiming to start manufacturing in bulk before the end of the year.

Toshiba is also going to make available a 64GB edition of this model.

This can finally enable Apple to launch 64GB and 128GB versions of their iPhone.
