Entries open today for eBay’s 2006 Canadian
Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. The program recognizes the achievements and
pioneering spirit of the engine of Canada’s economy: the small business owner.

Tens of thousands of registered Canadian sellers are using eBay as an
online gateway to a worldwide marketplace of 203 million registered eBay
users. Worldwide, eBay users trade more than $1,640 worth of goods every
second.

Small and medium-sized Canadian businesses use eBay to sell everything
from hockey equipment to designer fashions to electronics. Some sell
exclusively through eBay, while others are traditional bricks-and-mortar
businesses that augment their storefront sales on eBay. With eBay users
trading in more than 50,000 categories around the globe, 24 hours a day, seven
days a week, the potential new markets for Canadian small businesses are
endless.
“eBay’s Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year winners represent some of
Canada’s most innovative companies. They are part of a global online economy,
doing business on eBay, where more than $34 billion USD worth of goods are
traded each year,” says Jordan Banks, managing director, eBay Canada. “Through
eBay, Canadian small business owners have the world at their fingertips and we
are the platform on which they can build a profitable, successful business.”
