Telus Corp. has announced a 15-year agreement worth $137 million to provide the technology and services to run the human resources functions of Hamilton Health Sciences.

Hamilton Health Sciences operates five hospitals and a cancer centre with a total of 10,000 employees in the southern Ontario city.

Vancouver-headquartered Telus said it will upgrade the HR management system and take over operation of services including payroll, recruitment, compensation, benefits, and health and safety.

Seventy-three Hamilton Health Sciences employees will join Telus, which set up its sourcing solutions division in 2003 to concentrate on the HR sector.

The agreement announced Tuesday includes a new Telus “centre of excellence,” which will “develop, test and evaluate innovative HR system solutions that will be marketed to other health-sector and broader public-sector clients,”
