Synology America Corp. today announced the latest offering in its DiskStation lineup of network attached storage. The DS411 is the successor to the popular DiskStation DS410.

The DS411 is a 4-bay server perfect for small office environments. Businesses will appreciate the hardware encryption assist to boost speeds when encrypting folders. Even though it will debut under $500, it still offers uncompromising performance, giving users the performance they need at a reasonable price, boasting read speeds of 105 MB/s and write speeds of 47 MB/s.

“When you factor in the included software options and the versatility, this will really be a boon for serious users,” said Jason Bonoan, Product Marketing Manager at Synology America Corp. “Businesses will love the ease of use and management. Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) makes it a snap to create redundant storage, even using drives of differing sizes.”

The DS411 ships with the award-winning DiskStation Manager (DSM) 3.1 software. DiskStation Manager allows easy file sharing, website hosting, and remote access. With apps available for iOS and Android devices, remote access to data is even easier. DiskStation Manager allows for integration in ADS domains, and includes support for access control lists (ACLs) for granular file-level privilege control.

As backups are the best defense against data loss, Synology offers plenty of backup support. Data Replicator 3 is a free client for backing up Windows workstations. Support for Time Machine ensures that Mac users are protected. The Time Backup package allows versioned backups to be kept.

Like all DiskStations, the DS411 comes with US-based, in-house technical support available at no additional cost. Synology DiskStations are compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux environments.
