Powered by award-winning technologies, Symantec’s third generation security platform meets the reliability and performance demands of medium enterprises by offering three high performance models with scalable throughput, built-in hardware redundancy and integrated, optional high availability and load balancing.
Symantec Gateway Security 5600 Series provides seven essential security functions for maximum effectiveness, while reducing the complexity of security management. Symantec Gateway Security 5600 Series tightly integrates anti-spam, antivirus, clientless SSL and IPSec VPN, full-inspection firewall, intrusion prevention, intrusion detection, and both dynamic document review and URL list-based content filtering technologies to provide zero-day protection for the network perimeter.

Symantec Gateway Security 5600 Series provides clientless virtual private network (VPN) connections based on secure socket layer (SSL) communications. By eliminating the need to install client software on mobile machines, the cost to implement and maintain remote secured connectivity is reduced. Symantec Gateway Security 5600 Series offers customers both SSL and traditional IPSec VPN capabilities, allowing customers to mix SSL and IPSec sessions under one license.
Symantec Gateway Security 5600 Series extends its support for URL-based list filters with Symantec’s patented Dynamic Document Review (DDR) technology. DDR prevents employees from accessing objectionable content by allowing administrators to define context sensitive word relationships.
An ongoing problem IT administrators face today is ensuring the security and integrity of desktop and remote PCs. Symantec Gateway Security 5600 Series offers client compliance functionality that allows customers to enforce policies over systems connecting remotely via IPSec or Clientless SSL VPN. Prior to allowing access to a trusted network, remote users’ systems are scanned to determine if the appropriate Symantec AntiVirus software is in place and virus definitions are up-to-date.
Symantec Gateway Security 5600 Series reduces configuration and management costs by providing comprehensive management of integrated gateway security technologies from a single management system. Customers are provided with the ability to gain global visibility and control through centralized policy management, alerting, logging and graphical reporting, allowing them to efficiently analyze and act on malicious activity.
Symantec Gateway Security 5600 Series expands Symantec’s multi-function security appliance line and offers current customers new security functionality using Symantec Gateway Security v3.0 software when installed on existing Symantec Gateway Security 5400 Series and Symantec Clientless VPN Gateway 4400 Series models. The software upgrade is available for free to these customers with active maintenance contracts.

Depending on the model, performance throughput can scale up to more than 3.0 Gbps. The appliances are designed to be flexible enough to operate within current network environments as part of an overall multi-tier, multi-platform security plan.
