Samsung has been busy taking on Apple these days. After releasing a real contender for the MacBook Air the 9 Series laptop models, they're now officially announcing the Galaxy Tab WiFi only version. It's the same amazing Android tablet that has managed to get people excited last year when it was launched, except for the fact that the only connectivity you're getting is via WiFi.

When it will hit stores in the US this first quarter of 2011, the Galaxy Tab WiFi will come bundled with Android 2.2 as expected. Regarding price, the official press release makes no mention. But seeing how the price for the 3G version has been dropped recently, and with all these tablets being announced at CES and probably onto shelves in the first half of the year, it’s clear that the Galaxy Tab is not only only competing against Apple’s iPad. Another interesting story is when will the Galaxy Tab get Android 2.3 or will it be an upgrade to Honeycomb … directly?
