Samsung Canada announced an innovative out of home (OOH) advertising campaign that will reward holiday shoppers with popular musical tracks throughout Toronto’s underground walkway – the PATH system and the Metrotown Mall in Burnaby, BC, home of Samsung’s first store in North America. Through specially constructed ads, Samsung GALAXY S III and GALAXY Note II users will have the chance to download songs directly from the posters utilizing the smartphones’ built-in near field communication (NFC) technology.
Each Monday of the campaign, which runs from December 10, 2012 through January 2013, Samsung mobile users will be treated to a new song courtesy of Samsung Canada. Using their NFC chip found in Samsung GALAXY S III and Note II devices, mobile users can touch their smartphone to the poster and the weekly song will begin downloading immediately.
“The NFC OOH ads provide Samsung Canada with a unique opportunity to showcase the capabilities of our NFC technology through the S- Beam feature on the GALAXY S III and GALAXY Note II smartphones,” said Paul Brannen, Vice President, Enterprise Business Solutions at Samsung Canada. “We are excited to provide our smartphone customers with a complimentary music download from celebrated artists this holiday season.”
The NFC chip found in the Samsung GALAXY S III and the GALAXY Note II smartphones also allows the use of the S Beam feature, which allows their users to share music and video files simply by touching phones. By providing customers with this technology, Samsung enables its mobile users to pursue their passion for sharing their favourite content with friends and family alike.
