PC Magazine, a leading publication that delivers comparative reviews of computing products to technology buyers, has named the Lexmark T640n laser printer an Editors’ Choice.
The network-ready Lexmark T640n is part of a family of monochrome workgroup laser printers introduced in June with print speeds ranging from up to 35 pages per minute to up to 50 ppm.
“If your preferred workhorse printer is a monochrome laser, and you need to print a fair number of pages on any given day – as in many small and medium-size professional offices – you’re all but guaranteed to like the Lexmark T640n,” PC Magazine said.
The Lexmark T640n was praised for its performance and ease of use.
“Performance is exceptional,” PC Magazine said, noting that the 35-ppm Lexmark T640n beat or tied the higher priced 45-ppm HP LaserJet 4250n on 10 of the 13 tests in the business applications suite.
PC Magazine called the numeric keypad and USB port located on the operator panel “icing on a well-baked cake.” The keypad makes it easy for users to punch in their PIN when printing confidential documents, and the USB port allows users to walk up to the printer and print many file formats directly from a key-sized portable storage drive, sometimes called a flash or thumb drive.
