In a coordinated effort to send the “msg” to their communities, families and the government about the dangers of distracted driving, TheMotherhood.com, along with mom bloggers and social media moms, have launched a multi-platform online public service campaign, Mom Sends the Msg: Keep your Mind on the Wheel. (www.momsmsg.com).

Utilizing the reach of numerous social networking outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, TheMotherhood.com and mom blogs, mothers across the country are tackling the epidemic of distracted driving head on by signing a pledge, blogging the stats and stories, making video PSAs (public service announcements) and printing up “window messages” for their cars.

It is clear the message is being heard. US Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood blogged about the Mom Sends the Msg campaign yesterday in his official DOT blog, Welcome to the Fast Lane.

In its first 24 hours, over 50 bloggers signed up as Mom Sends the Msg Ambassadors and almost 120 have signed the Pledge.

TheMotherhood plans to deliver the signed pledge and mom-made video PSAs to the US DOT and the White House in early November.

TheMotherhood.com is a social network for moms that believes in the power of moms online to make the world a better place – for themselves, their families, their communities and the world.
