NXP Software is demonstrating an upgrade of QuickPlayer at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011 in cooperation with Envivio. This new version allows Android-based devices to play content encoded for Apple’s adaptive HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol. Fully compatible with major video service providers, it lets Android users access the extensive content available within the Apple ecosystem.
The software also ensures high-quality viewing. It supports up to standard definition resolution content. And like previous versions of QuickPlayer, it ensures a fast start to play back and maintains smooth viewing with no re-buffering, dropped service or visual artifacts even during network switches and variations in bandwidth availability.
“We’re delighted to be launching the latest version of LifeVibes QuickPlayer with a live demo in partnership with Envivio at MWC. The software enables video service providers to open up a huge choice of extra content on Android devices. Combined with the fastest start-up time around and viewing that’s virtually as smooth as watching on a living room TV, it offers video service providers the best way address the booming market of Android users,” says Peter Van de Berg, Marketing Director, NXP Software.
LifeVibes QuickPlayer allows consumers to watch online videos, and access live and on-demand content. The software is available to service providers as an SDK for a downloadable application. The SDK includes a reference application ready to deploy and can also be integrated with a third-party application UI layer.
