US based microprocessor giant Intel has announced the launch of first Moblin 2 alpha release.

This edition is aimed to be used on the low cost portable computers popularly known as netbooks.

Intel has an interest in this market as they sell Intel Atom processor which are designed specifically for these MIDs.

Moblin has gained some popularity in the recent times as it has been adopted by Linux entities including Linpus, GoS, and Mandriva.

Intel said that this release is still at a very early stage of development.

They are currently using the Xfce desktop environment which is pretty light weight on system resources.
