Microsoft Kinect has just landed in the US market and the device has already been hacked to work with a PC.
There is a technical demonstration video available now which shows how a Windows machine could track the movement using Kinect.
Kinect is of course designed to be used with Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console. This accessory is designed to enable controller-less motion gaming.
Wiimote is another device which has been hacked a lot to work with third party devices. Kinect of course brings to the table a whole range of new possibilities.
Microsoft is not worried however. The company said:
Microsoft does not condone the modification of its products. With Kinect, Microsoft built in numerous hardware and software safeguards designed to reduce the chances of product tampering. Microsoft will continue to make advances in these types of safeguards and work closely with law enforcement and product safety groups to keep Kinect tamper-resistant.
