LINE, the world’s leading mobile messaging platform with social network service, today announced that 16 game titles released through its gaming service, LINE GAME, have been downloaded a combined total of more than 100M times in just seven months. With a general increase in users in Taiwan, Thailand and East Asia, and a recent launch in the US, LINE’s parent company, NHN Japan, stated that it is aiming to create a global gaming platform.

Since its launch in July 2012, the LINE GAME service has steadily increased its lineup of games, which offers a rich entertainment experience that can be shared among close friends who are connected with one another via LINE. The gaming system, which enables users to share their scores with their LINE friends according to ranking, as well as allowing friends to battle through games together, has been very well received and within seven months of the service launching, LINE GAME has exceeded 100M downloads.

LINE GAME quickly rose in popularity in Thailand, Taiwan and elsewhere in East Asia as evidenced by the rankings in App Store and Google Play. The 16 LINE GAME titles have claimed the number one spot in both the Free App and Games categories of App Stores in 12 locations, while at Google Play the titles were ranked first in the Free App category at 10 locations and number one in the Games category at 14 locations.

The highest download figures amongst the LINE GAME titles are for LINE POP, which recorded 20M* downloads worldwide as of January 16, 2013 – just 58 days after its release. Similarly, LINE Bubble exceeded the 10M* downloads mark on January 19, 2013 – a mere 28 days after its release.

NHN Japan commented that LINE GAME will continue to focus on expanding its content to provide new and exciting games with the aim of promoting communication between users while aiming to become a global gaming platform.
