Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of global technology distributor Avnet, Inc. announced the promotion of Jeff Bawol to president of Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, effective immediately. As president, Bawol will be responsible for the strategic direction and growth of Avnet’s technology solutions business in the region, including overseeing current day-to-day operations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Bawol will report to John Paget, president, Avnet Technology Solutions, Global.

An industry veteran, Bawol brings almost 30 years of experience at Avnet to his new role – 10 with Avnet Technology Solutions and 19 with Avnet Electronics Marketing. In 2003, he was tapped to establish and grow the Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, Enterprise Software and Storage Solutions group (ESS) as senior vice president and general manager. ESS has experienced a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of more than 42 percent over the past three years. Prior to that role, Bawol served as vice president and general manager of Avnet Hall-Mark’s (renamed Avnet Partner Solutions) Intel Architecture/Compaq Business Unit, a position he assumed in 2000.

“Jeff’s business savvy, collaborative leadership and straightforward communications style have garnered him the respect of his team and his peers throughout Avnet,” said Paget. “He has the knowledge, skills and determination to further position Avnet Technology Solutions as a global leader and help our customers, suppliers and company accelerate their success in the Americas market.”

Bawol began his career with Avnet in 1977 as a customer service representative with Hamilton Avnet Electronics. He served in a variety of positions, including inside sales, field sales, general manager, area vice president and regional vice president. With Avnet’s purchase of Hall-Mark Electronics in 1993, Bawol became vice president of the South Central area for the combined Hamilton Hall-Mark business. In 1996, he joined the Tandy Corp. as vice president of sales, running their Commercial Sales Group. He returned to Avnet Computer Marketing in 1998 as vice president of sales for what was then Hall-Mark Integrated Solutions.

“Technology solutions distribution has never been more dynamic,” said Bawol. “Our innovative and experienced team understands how to connect business partners with market opportunities that are aligned with our suppliers’ strategies. I am committed to helping this team, as well as our customers and suppliers, achieve their full potential.”
