IBM Announces New Systems Management Software for mySAP Business Suite

IBM today announced new systems management software for mySAP™ Business Suite and unveiled design and implementation services that greatly expand the capabilities of the software.

Called IBM Dynamic Infrastructure (IDI) for mySAP Business Suite, the new systems management software enables clients to achieve a better balance between the demand for SAP computing resources and the supply of those resources. IDI for mySAP Business Suite helps reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and improve the quality of service (QoS) in SAP® solution environments while supporting SAP’s Adaptive Computing Infrastructure. IDI for mySAP Business Suite helps clients design and implement IDI for SAP solutions.

“The ability to react and respond to changing conditions is a critical success factor for businesses today,” said Ross A. Mauri, general manager, On Demand Business, IBM. “The technology we are announcing delivers on-demand value to our customers running SAP business solutions, helping them to reduce the complexity and increase the responsiveness of their SAP solution landscapes.”

IDI for mySAP Business Suite is based on IBM Virtualization Engine technology, with dynamic systems provisioning capabilities provided by IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager. This solution is available for IBM eServer zSeries, xSeries, pSeries and BladeCenter platforms, as well as IBM TotalStorage systems. The offering runs on IBM’s POWER5, POWER4, zSeries microprocessor and Intel architecture microprocessor technology.

“Working in partnership with IBM and SAP, we are able to optimize the way we operate our SAP landscapes”, says Ed Toben, Chief Information Officer at Colgate-Palmolive. “As part of this long-standing relationship, we decided to use IBM Dynamic Infrastructure for mySAP Business Suite as the solution, which will help us improve utilization of our SAP Infrastructure.”

IDI for mySAP Business Suite reduces operating costs, manages hardware resources more efficiently, and simplifies SAP solution environments enabling clients to more effectively establish themselves as an on demand business. The new offering makes IT networks more flexible and resilient by dynamically allocating computing resources to SAP application services on the basis of business priorities.

IDI for mySAP Business Suite and IBM’s Accelerator Service is available in March 2005.
