HP today announced the availability of a new business desktop PC lineup with simplified product categories so customers can select the right PC based on their business needs and budgets.
HP’s business PC lineup meets the gamut of business needs – from the basic needs for everyday desktop computing, to the mainstream and advanced needs for increased power and features.
“We simplified our commercial PC line to give customers a selection of desktops that meet a variety of business needs – at every level and every budget,” said Keith LeFebvre, vice president of business PCs, Personal Systems Group, HP. “Whether for a small- and medium-size business or an enterprise customer, HP’s business PCs can satisfy customers’ demands for the right mix of price, features and power.”
Since IT needs vary from customer to customer, HP is offering three distinct categories of business PCs. The new lineup features the HP Compaq 2000, 5000 and 7000 series, giving customers a choice between basic, mainstream and advanced levels of business PCs.
The first of the 2000 series, the HP Compaq Business Desktop dx2000 is a simple, low-cost PC for enterprise or SMB customers, providing the right combination of performance, price and quality needed for most typical business applications. For increased performance, the dx2000 features four DIMM slots to support single- or dual-channel memory configurations and offers quick and easy utilization of external peripherals with eight USB 2.0 ports.
The dx2000’s compact microtower fits easily in most workspaces, while still offering an affordable, expandable platform. This PC is available pre-configured, or users can elect to customize it with Intel® Celeron® or HyperThread-enabled(1) Pentium® 4 processors with speeds up to 3.0E gigahertz, up to 80-gigabyte hard drive, up to one gigabyte of double data rate (DDR) SDRAM, choice of optical drives and choice of Microsoft Windows® XP or alternative operating systems.
For more advanced computing needs, customers can select the HP Compaq business desktop dc5000. With a lifecycle of at least 12 months and common software image across the platform, the reliable dc5000 simplifies PC ownership. All dc5000 customers are provided with HP Lifecycle Solutions manageability tools to enable faster, easier deployment and maintenance across business networks. This helps lower the total cost of technology ownership by reducing the need for IT support and improving IT staff productivity.
The dc5000 is available in two designs – small form factor and microtower – giving customers a choice of features based on their business needs and budgets. Customers can choose convenient pre-configured models or fully customize their own solution with Intel Celeron or HyperThread-enabled Pentium 4 processors with speeds up to 3.0E gigahertz, up to 160-gigabyte hard drive, up to four gigabytes of DDR SDRAM, choice of optical drives and choice of Microsoft Windows XP or alternative operating systems. Both form factors are designed with tool-less access to internal components and drives for quick and easy upgrades or service.
The HP Compaq 7000 series, available this summer, will offer customers the lineup’s most powerful and advanced features for demanding business environments. The 7000 series includes advanced security, serviceability and manageability features, including HP Lifecycle Solutions to deploy and maintain PCs in corporate networks.
The HP Compaq 2000, 5000 and 7000 business desktop series all provide a stable hardware platform to eliminate the need to re-qualify images due to hardware changes during the lifetime of the product.(2)
