Hotel.coms the world’s leading hotel booking website, has launched two new apps for Windows 8, an iteration of its highly successful app specifically designed for mobile and another built specifically for Windows 8 tablet.

The new apps enable customers using Windows 8 on-the-go to easily and quickly research, search and book hotel accommodation, as well as review reservations, read customer reviews and search for specific mobile-only deals. Alongside this, Hotels.com customers can also:

Pin a page to their homepage at any point in the App, whether it is a specific hotel or their upcoming reservation; this then allows them to have instant access to that information

‘Discover’ regions from across the world directly on the home page, including Africa, Asia and Europe when using the tablet app. It then drills down into country- and city-specific information offering inspiration to those undecided on their holiday destination

The Windows 8 launch is the latest in what has been a busy period of customer-focused innovations for the Hotels.com mobile team. The launch of the iOS and Android mobile apps in May 2011 marked the start of a period of rapid mobile growth for the brand. This was followed by the iPad launch in September 2011 and Windows 7 in April 2012. To date the Hotels.com app has been downloaded 15 million times globally and represents a significant and growing part of the business.

Scott Booker, President, Hotels.com, comments: “We are very pleased to have launched the Windows 8 Apps into the market for our users. Our team has worked tirelessly to build apps that are tailored to the needs of our customers and those using this operating system. We have had a very clear strategy, throughout the evolution of our mobile products, to build Apps that are specifically designed for individual devices and operating systems. We do not believe in a ‘one size fits all’ method and this launch is the latest innovation in this process. Our current apps have been downloaded globally by 15 million users and we are looking forward to seeing the Windows 8 products contribute further to this number.”

The Hotels.com apps offer customers access to almost 200,000 hotels worldwide in more than 25,000 destinations, more than 20,000 last-minute deals, more than 7 million user reviews and last-minute hotel rooms close to their location.
