New mobile applications launched by the Government of Canada will encourage Canadians from coast to coast to coast to celebrate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and learn more about Canada’s traditions, history and institutions. The Crown in Canada iPhone application and mobile site were launched today by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, as part of Diamond Jubilee week.
“Our Government supports commemorating important milestones in Canadian history, such as the Diamond Jubilee,” said Minister Moore. “Part of commemorating such a special anniversary involves trying to reach new audiences, including young Canadians. These new applications will provide an opportunity to encourage Canadian youth to participate in this celebration of our country’s traditions, history, and institutions, and encourage all Canadians to learn more about the role of the Crown in Canada.”
The new Crown in Canada iPhone application and mobile site will be a source of information on the Government of Canada’s plans for celebrating The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, including details on the Diamond Jubilee Medal program and key dates for celebrating the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty’s accession to the throne.
