Gateway Notebooks Pump Up the Performance

    For customers
who want a notebook PC that is powerful, flexible and portable enough to
handle all their computing needs in a range of environments, Gateway updates
its Gateway(R) 450 and Gateway M275 notebook PC lines with new Intel(R)
    Pentium(R) M processors.

Designed for businesses, government agencies, educational institutions and
students, the award-winning Gateway 450 and M275 notebook lines are now
offered in select configurations that include new Intel Pentium M processors
(previously codenamed “Dothan”). The Gateway 450 is a mid-range performance
notebook popular with businesses and institutions, and offers an optional
built-in biometrics fingerprint sensor that can be used in lieu of passwords
for identity authentication. The Gateway M275 is a mainstream convertible
notebook that transforms into a Tablet PC by rotating the display on a hinge,
then folding it on top of the keyboard for pen-based computing.

“Our customers want notebooks they can take with them anywhere so they can
be productive and creative without being confined to a single space,” said
Philip Osako, vice president, mobile products group, Gateway, Inc. “Plane
rides, off-site meetings and classroom study can be more productive than ever
for mobile PC users with a thin-and-light Gateway notebook with the latest
Intel Pentium M processor and wireless-capability.”

The new thin-and-light Gateway notebook configurations take mobile
computing to the next level with Intel(R) Centrino(R) mobile technology for
outstanding mobile performance, wireless LAN capability and extended battery
life.(1) The new Intel Pentium M processors provide faster processing speeds
and larger cache sizes to result in greater computing power. Also, integrated
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless Network Connection 802.11b/g ensures reliable WiFi
wireless connectivity, helping people compute and communicate in more places
than ever, including hotels, restaurants, convention centers, college campuses
    and SOHO environments.

“Gateway’s new notebook PCs combine the awesome performance of the new
Intel Pentium M processors with the latest mobile technology for computer
users who want to use their PC to stay in touch, remain productive and be
entertained,” said Anand Chandrasekher, Intel vice president and co-general
manager of Intel’s Mobile Platforms Group.

The thin and lightweight Gateway 450 is the ideal-sized notebook for
customers who want the perfect balance of performance and portability. The
Gateway 450’s starting weight is only 5.79 pounds(2) and it measures less
than 1.5 inches thick, yet the notebook still provides unparalleled
performance and extended battery life to meet the needs of mobile
professionals, including SMBs, SOHO users, government and customers at
    educational institutions and large businesses.

The Gateway 450XL, priced at $2,099.99, includes the Intel Pentium M
    processor 745 (1.80GHz, 400MHz FSB, 2MB Level 2 cache, built on the 90nm
process), 15-inch SXGA+ TFT display, 512MB DDR SDRAM, a 60GB ultra ATA hard
    drive(3), and a DVD/CD burner.

Businesses and institutions that have standardized on the popular Gateway
450 line will be pleased that the new Gateway 450XL is backward compatible
with the existing Gateway 450 line, allowing IT departments to continue using
standardized replacement parts, port replicators, batteries and other
peripherals. The Gateway 450 includes Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP
    Professional.

Gateway M275: Innovative Blend of Notebook and Tablet PC
The Gateway M275 adds the flexibility and convenience of Tablet pen-based
computing to a thin-and-light notebook to enhance learning, productivity and
communications. By simply rotating and folding the display, the powerful
notebook becomes a Tablet PC, enabling students, educational institutions,
corporate and small business customers to use their PC in new ways — like to
conveniently handwrite notes, sketches or diagrams directly onto the display
in class or at a meeting.

The digital media-ready Gateway M275 houses two integrated media devices –
    – a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive and a four-in-one memory card reader that can
access Smart Media, Secure Digital Stick, Multimedia Cards and Memory Stick
cards. These storage devices, along with the large hard drive, two USB 2.0
ports and IEEE 1394 connection, make it easy to store, transfer, edit and
share presentations, files, photos and video using the Gateway M275.

Priced at only $2,099.99, the Gateway M275XL includes the new Intel
    Pentium M processor 745 (1.80GHz, 400MHz FSB, 2MB Level 2 cache, built on the
90nm process), 512MB DDR SDRAM memory and a 60GB hard disk drive.(3) The
sleek Gateway M275XL weighs only 5.7 pounds(2) and measures 12.6×10.8×1.1
inches (WxDxH) and comes standard with Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Tablet PC
    Edition.

    Availability and Limited Warranty
The Gateway 450XL configuration will be available this week, and the
Gateway M275XL will be ready for shipment in the next two weeks.
Additionally, other configurations of the Gateway 450 and M275 lines may be
upgraded to one of the new Intel Pentium M processors at time of purchase.

In addition to the Gateway 450 and Gateway M275 lines, the Gateway M405
will also be made available with the new processors. Beginning today, the
Gateway M405 line can be upgraded at time of purchase to one of the new Intel
Pentium M processors for heightened performance.
