Fujitsu Computer Systems announced that its ETERNUS storage product line is now available in North America with increased interoperability and simplified management. ETERNUS storage products offer organizations more options for deploying and scaling to business growth by bridging the gap between storage systems.
Fujitsu is now delivering ETERNUS storage products in compliance with the Storage Management Interface Specification (SMI-S), an industry standard set by the Storage Network Industry Association (SNIA). Compliance ensures Fujitsu storage management solutions offer a standard-user interface and are interoperable with other storage management products.
Among the leading storage products in Japan, the ETERNUS storage product line is known to deliver uncompromised reliability and availability for enterprise-class and small and medium-size business storage requirements.
“With its long history of delivering the highest quality and most reliable mainframe and server products, Fujitsu is quickly establishing itself as the enterprise storage solution of choice for companies requiring maximum reliability and availability while demanding overall IT value,” said Richard McCormack, senior vice president of marketing at Fujitsu Computer Systems. “With its seamless integration with the entire line of world-class enterprise servers from Fujitsu, ETERNUS storage offers organizations a straightforward, dependable path to building out a data center.”
ETERNUS storage solutions offer organizations multiple paths to implement a storage solution cost effectively and then scale the solution to meet increasing needs. The ETERNUS3000, a modular storage system, provides enterprise-level performance and excellent, cost-effective horizontal scaling. The ETERNUS3000 storage systems allows organizations to start small, and then scale out to meet increasing capacity and performance demands.
The ETERNUS6000, a monolithic storage solution, bridges the gap between affordable modular systems and cost-prohibitive monolithic systems. The ETERNUS6000 storage system provides the massive scalability and data handling capabilities of monolithic storage but without the high entry cost. Organizations can begin deploying an ETERNUS6000 storage solution with as small a system as a dual-controller, 100-drive profile, and then seamlessly scale on capacity, connectivity, and throughput up to 1,020 drives.
The Storage Management Interface Specification (SMI-S) was created as part of SNIA’s Storage Management Initiative (SMI), which is charged with developing and standardizing interoperable storage management technologies and aggressively promoting them to the storage, networking, and end-user communities. The initiative has received steadily increasing support from the storage networking vendor community and promises enterprise customers more flexibility in how they build their storage environment.
