This was revealed in the report saying that the shipment of PCs in the global market increased by around 15.3 percent in 2005. Interestingly, Dell continues to impress the customers as it extended its advantage over Hewlett-Packard.
The worldwide sales of personal computers in 2005 reached 218.5 million units in 2005. This is an impressive improvement over 2004, which saw shipment of around 189.5 million computers. The market saw massive growth in countries in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. US however was a disappointment with a growth rate of just around 7.5 percent.
The fastest growing areas were however Asia Pacific and Latin America with sales improving by 26 percent to 42.8 million and 14.7 million units respectively. In terms of manufactures, Dell now has a global market share of around 16.8 percent. This is an improvement over 16.4 percent it had last year.
Hewlett-Packard on the other hand has a minor loss in terms of market share, which dropped from 14.6 percent in 2004 to 14.5 percent last year. Lenovo and Acer were other major players in this segment.
