Wacom's workshops are sure to be a popular spot for tattoo artists seeking to learn more about creating digtal art on Wacom's Cintiq creative pen displays. The Cintiq family of pen displays allow artists to draw and paint directly on screen with Wacom's renowned pressure-sensitive pen technology. When combined with the right creative software application, the Cintiq delivers a natural and intuitive experience that emulates a true pen-on-paper feel. "A Cintiq workflow allows tattoo artists to shorten their design time by providing a much faster way to resize, warp and stretch artwork to fit the exact contours of a client's anatomy," says Don Varga, Wacom's Director of Brand Marketing. "By taking full advantage of reference photos and layers, artists can quickly find the best colors and shapes to meet client needs. The options on a Cintiq are virtually endless."
Wacom will hold a four hour workshop each day of the show from 1PM to 5PM, Wednesday, the 16th through Sunday, the 20th. Wacom's lab will be outfitted with 20 Cintiq Companions, Wacom's mobile, Windows-based creative pen display. Workshop attendees will be treated to two hours of digital instruction during each session by Russ Abbott, a master tattoo artist from the Ink & Dagger tattoo studio in Roswell, Georgia. Russ will cover a variety of subjects on how to get the most out of the Cintiq as well as teaching some of the ins and outs of software programs such as Manga Studio 5, Photoshop and more. The other two hours of each session offer users free time to play on the Cintiq and dive deeper into its many capabilities. "All tattoo artists should have an opportunity to explore the use of digital ink and the power Wacom's creative pen displays bring to content creation," says Mario Barth, artist, industry ambassdor and creator of the BTSOE. "We are so happy that Wacom is hosting a daily workshop at the Intenze Creative Academy and providing hands-on instruction throughout the week of BTSOE. Artists are going to dig it!"
Experienced Wacom employees will be present to help answer questions and offer valuable Cintiq workflow tips and tricks. Additionally, attending tattoo artists will have the opportunity to participate in a fun, collaborative event using Wacom input devices and projected artwork. Daily winners will be awarded Wacom products.
"Tattoo artists are really starting to embrace a digital workflow thanks to the creative control, speed and opportunities for immediate collaboration it provides," continues Varga. "We are honored to be a part of the BTSOE's Intenze Creative Academy and sharing our passion for art with those who come to the workshop."
