Resellers could never get enough understanding of how vendor products should be marketed or how channel programs can better profit them. Knowing how each product is positioned and its target market can make all the difference in reseller sell-through. HP held a seminar to help the resellers understand the right target audience for their consumer and business products. Cisco outlined their SMB partner programs so resellers can better understand what support and profit opportunities are available. TalkSwitch showed how small businesses can save costs from their VOIP telephony solution.
The show helped resellers to better understand some vendor programs so they do not leave any profits on the table. Special prices were offered exclusively to attendees who placed orders at the show. Resellers also saw new products that will help them offer more innovation to their customers. It all adds up to solid value for the resellers.
Eye-Fi showcased a product that makes your camera wireless. Without removing your memory card or plugging your camera into anything, this device will upload your pictures to web sites or your computer. It’s like having an endless memory card. It is well worth buying just for the instant backup of the pictures. “This becomes really exciting when 4G hits the market as users can send pictures in real time anywhere in the World. It’s a great example of what’s new and exciting in the digital imaging market” adds Michael Schwab, Co-President D&H.
Creating your private cloud just got a whole lot easier with PogoPlug. This device lets you access and share any external hard drive through the Internet. Accessing your files, pictures, videos and music from anywhere in the World makes life simple. Empowering any user to create their private cloud is another step towards the global adoption of Cloud Computing. “Photographers can use the Eye-Fi device to automatically upload pictures to a private cloud using the PogoPlug and have their clients view and proof pictures remotely. A good example how these new technologies work well together”, adds Mr. Tobin.
Mary Campbell, D&H VP of Marketing and Co-Owner, comments “Helping our resellers align their sales strategy with the vendors’ is key to sustainable sales growth. There is only so much that the retail box can tell the consumer so we need the resellers to be able to explain the true value. This is what we hope this event and our other marketing initiatives will do for our customers”
There was a great line up of consumer and small business related products at the trade show including D-Link, NetGear, SanDisk and Acer. Digital imaging vendors such as Sony, Canon, Olympus, Fujifilm and Kodak also showcased their latest products. The challenge for some of these vendors is to educate and motivate the resellers enough so they decide to switch from another brand or add a new product to their mix. The value proposition has to be significant as resellers continue to struggle with a low-profit business model in a soft economy. If these vendors can overcome this hurdle, then they may be on the right track to success. To learn more contact D&H.
