March 10-14 will kick of the 2014 CeBIT show. It’s Europe’s largest IT exposition. We will be sending a crew to check out what’s happening and bring you the inside scoop.
As expected, this year will have a heavy focus on Cloud. Will be interesting to see how the Europeans are adopting Cloud solutions. Big Data, Mobility and Social will also be key highlights. About 3,500 exhibitors from 70 countries are expected, but it looks like there will be no Canadian Pavilion.
The art of turning words into graphic could be interesting. This year, the information designer Anna Lena Schiller will be capturing selected highlights of the CeBIT program in visual form. Using a large sketch board, Schiller will translate lectures, opinion surveys and meetings into text and graphics live as they unfold. This is a highly effective way of boiling complex topics down to their information essentials. These “infographcs” could be cool.
Apple’s co-founder Steve Wozniak will be one of the 1,000 speakers at CeBIT. These days, Wozniak’s primary interests are philanthropy and the supporting and mentoring of small enterprises – a cause which has earned him the respect and admiration of many around the world, including that of Oliver Frese as the Deutsche Messe Managing Board member in charge of CeBIT: “I am really looking forward to seeing Steve Wozniak,” Frese enthused. “He embodies so much that makes him a perfect match for CeBIT. He’s an icon of the IT industry who enjoys global recognition; he is an inspired and creative inventor; he loves products that make life easier; and he believes in giving young companies a chance.”
Looking forward to trying out their new mobile 2D app to navigate the grounds. Keep watching. Much more to come…
