Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced its continued support for DB2 Universal Database for z/OS with a comprehensive suite of tightly integrated Unicenter database products that help customers reduce the cost and complexity of managing large scale DB2 environments.
Unicenter Database Management r11 for DB2 Universal Database (UDB) for z/OS V8, currently in beta release, features 33 tightly integrated products that help protect DB2 data, improve response time and increase system availability. It is comprised of three suites – Unicenter Database Performance Management, Unicenter Database Backup and Recovery, and Unicenter Database Administration – that can be licensed separately or together.

Unicenter Database Management for DB2 for z/OS v 8 delivers:
*Comprehensive LOB (Large Object) management that extends the capabilities of IBM’s DB2 utilities by enabling the automated loading and unloading of LOBs greater than 32K.
*Unicode support across the Unicenter Database Administration suite for support of multilingual environments.
*Support for all 4096 DB2 partitions throughout the Unicenter Database Backup and Recovery suite, enabling enhanced management of discrete data sets and accelerated data transfer in large and complex data warehousing environments.
*Support for high-transaction environments, including 10,000 DB2 archive logs to ensure high-speed recovery of critical data.

An active participant in IBM’s DB2 UDB for z/OS V8 Early Support Program, CA has worked closely with IBM mainframe customers for the past two years on supporting DB2 V8.
