BenQ announced that the highly anticipated FP783 LCD monitor is now shipping. This monitor is the second one from BenQ that comes with 12 millisecond (ms) response time and boasts a bold, new look. Given its response time, D-Sub/DVI inputs, 16.2 million display colors and resolution of 1280×1024, the FP783 is ideally suited for video games and other graphic-heavy applications.

The FP783 possesses an industry-leading 12ms response time. Response time is the screen’s signal reaction speed – the time required for the screen to turn from completely white to completely black and vice versa. Response time is a critical element for LCD monitors and needs to be less than 17ms to enjoy smoother transitions without still-image retention or delays in motion. For example, a 12ms LCD is equivalent to 83 images per second versus a standard television that displays 30 images per second (i.e., 33ms,) or a 25ms LCD that equals 40 images per second.

“The BenQ FP783 represents a new breed of LCD monitor that combines powerful features with a unique look for today’s savvy consumer,” said Thomas Han, vice president of Display at BenQ America. “With its new design and two-tone bezel, along with one of the fastest response times in the market, the FP783 represents what LCD monitors can be-a high-quality display that is ideal for graphic artists, avid PC gamers and anyone who requires top-quality video performance.”

The BenQ FP783 17-inch LCD monitor was honored with an Innovations 2004 Design and Engineering award at the 2004 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The FP783 features 12ms signal response time for dynamic screen motion that yields smooth, flicker-free, full-motion images. It delivers a brightness of 300 cd/m2 with a contrast ratio of 500:1 for amazingly clear and sharp picture quality, and comes with dual analog and DVI inputs. The BenQ FP783 has a resolution of 1280×1024 pixels with a 16.2 million-color palette to ensure accurate color reproduction. It features a white/blue bezel, USB2.0 and optional 2Wx2 speaker with SRSÔ surround sound effects and optional web cam.
