Asus has revealed that they are going to offer Ubuntu as an option on their upcoming netbook models Eee PC 1001PXD, 1011PX and 1015PX.
The company had previously offered their netbooks with Xandros. Ubuntu is a much more popular Linux distribution and is well supported by Canonical.
We are unlikely to see Ubuntu netbooks beating Windows based netbooks in sales now that the focus has shifted to Tablets but it still gives an option to people looking for a cheap secure computing machine.
Google Chromebooks is also set to challenge the netbooks powered by Windows operating system.
