Amazon already is present in the digital media selling industry with their Amazon MP3 service platform.
And they have just acquired a small rival Amie Street.
The financial details of this deal have not been revealed.
Amie Street is different from other online stores. New songs are offered for free. They become pricier as more people download them. As a result, popular songs are rewarded with financial benefits.
The service is likely to shut down as part of the merger. It is not clear what Amazon wants to do with it yet.
