Adobe Systems Incorporated today will kick off activities at AIIM Expo and On-Demand 2004, the largest conference and expo focused on enterprise content management and digital publishing. At the conference, the company will demonstrate how its new software for document services enable organizations and governments to utilize Intelligent Documents for automating document-based processes and accelerating access to business-critical information.
Leading the charge in transforming how enterprises and governments manage paper forms workflows, Adobe will introduce new forms processing technology (see separate release) that utilizes Adobe® PDF, Adobe Reader® and 2-D barcode technology to reduce costs and errors associated with manual data entry and provide a unified environment to support both paper and electronic forms processes. The solution will enable organizations to create Adobe PDF forms that include 2-D barcodes for dynamic encoding of data in formats specified by the form author, and delivery of captured data to back-end systems for processing.
Adobe also will announce the immediate availability of Adobe Designer beta software — new XML/PDF form design software — that enables easy creation and deployment of Intelligent Documents (see separate release). Whether building forms from scratch or adding intelligence to existing form templates created in PDF or Microsoft Word, Adobe Designer integrates XML form data with core enterprise systems, while providing all the capabilities needed to design forms with precision.
“Organizations rely on information they collect from employees, customers and partners. However, current processes for managing information and incorporating it into enterprise applications are frequently inefficient, error prone, time consuming and costly,” said Eugene Lee, vice president, Product Marketing. “With Adobe document services, organizations can automate business processes by using intelligent documents to include participants in the process at the right time, with the right information, and in the right format, for more secure and effective communication.”
In its exhibit (Booth 2447 at Javitz Convention Center) and speaking sessions, Adobe will highlight solutions that are part of the Adobe Intelligent Document Platform, which extends the value of existing core enterprise systems to ensure more secure, reliable and efficient access to business-critical information across the extended enterprise. Adobe participation in conference sessions includes “Enterprise Content Integration Architectures,” “Information Management Compliance,” and “Document Capture, Content Management and Multi-Channel Delivery.”
Adobe also is participating in several PDF standards activities during AIIM Standards Week, including the International Standards Organization meeting for PDF/Archive, a proposed standard for archival storage of electronic documents; and the first working group meetings for the new PDF/Accessible, a proposed standard for ensuring that PDF files are accessible to people with disabilities, and PDF/Engineering, a proposed standard for document collaboration and exchange within engineering processes.
