Scalar Decisions Inc, the Toronto-headquartered IT solutions integrator, announced that it has acquired 3vis of Montreal, a leading integrator of digital entertainment creation software in the media and entertainment market across Canada. The acquisition will give Scalar its first office in Quebec, adding to its existing footprint in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, as well as access to a wide range of content creation software expertise for the digital media marketplace.
Since 2004, Scalar has built a large base of customers in the media and entertainment industry by offering a mix of IT consulting and custom managed services. In 2012, Scalar launched StudioCloud, a community cloud for the digital media industry, offering on-demand computing to studios. The acquisition of 3vis now allows Scalar to offer a full range of software applications and associated services to media and entertainment customers. Scalar also plans to offer compute and software licensing as part of the StudioCloud offering, on a pay-per-use basis.
"We're delighted to announce this latest step in our national growth and are pleased to be gaining the experienced team at 3vis," said Paul Kerr, President and CEO of Scalar. "As leaders in the media and entertainment industry, their business in software applications, consulting expertise and client support services is a natural complement to ours."
Sylvain Plourde, co-founder and CEO of 3vis, said "We're very excited to join the innovative team at Scalar and to be part of their expansion into the digital media market. We look forward to offering an enhanced suite of products and services to media and entertainment studios across Canada. "
The current team at 3vis will all join the Scalar team, with Sylvain Plourde taking on the role of Director of Business Development for Media & Entertainment.
