Chinese government has set a deadline for web services providing mapping solutions.
They need to get the required approvals from the government bodies by July 2011 to continue operating in the country.
Baidu has already received the necessary permissions. Microsoft has applied for them. Google has not applied for them.
Google has said that they are still studying the implications of agreeing to the demands made by the Chinese government.
They would have to shut down access to Google Maps and Google Earth if they fail to comply with the new regulations.
