In reaction to the criticism surrounding Facebook’s updates on its privacy settings, the popular social networking site provided a new option that allows members to protect their Friends List from viewing or searching.
A number of Facebook users are not comfortable about exposing their list of friends to the public in fears that it could be used by competitors, online stalkers, repressive governments, and other untrustworthy elements to misuse the information against them.
It is not clear, however, if search engines such as Google and Bing (both of which recently established ties with Facebook) would use Friends List in their search results.
