Fido shakes things up, giving customers 5 free hours of data a month

Happy hour? Try five! Starting today, new and existing Fido PulseTM plan customers can take advantage of an innovative new feature available in the Fido My Account app that gives them access to 1 free hour of data, 5 times a month – on top of the data included in their plans. With a simple shake of their phone while in the app, customers can activate their free data session and start streaming, searching and sharing, worry free.

As the first wireless provider in Canada to offer this feature, Fido is shaking things up by giving its customers the freedom and flexibility of extra data for those data intensive moments, without having to hunt for Wi-Fi. With the introduction of an extra 5 free hours of data a month, customers can now stream their favourite show on the bus, liven up the party with a Spotify playlist or video call a friend on the go, all via the latest version of the Fido My Account app.

"With an extra 5 free hours of data every month, Fido Pulse plan customers are getting even more value and flexibility with their plans and access to a new feature that they can't get anywhere else in Canada."

The new feature is available to all Fido Pulse plan customers while connected to the Fido network. Customers can start a session and track their remaining time by the minute right from their fingertips. Once a session begins, customers can stream, surf and share for 1 hour and it won't eat into their monthly data bucket. A notification will let them know when the free data session has ended - easy!

The new feature, Data BytesTM, is one of several updates to the Fido My Account app including Touch ID for iOS. These updates add to existing self-serve options like bill payment and usage tracking. The new app (3.1.1 for iOS and 3.1 for Android) is now available in the App Store and Google Play for compatible iOS (iOS 8.2 and later) and Android (Android 4.2 and later) devices. To check plan eligibility for the new feature, customers can text Pulse to 222.
