Multimedia Reading with the eyeBook
A plane crashes in the desert, the reader hears an explosion and then the little prince from Antoine de St. Exupéry's book of the same name suddenly appears between the lines.
Thanks to the eyeBook, a new reading system developed by the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), a new multimedia reading experience has been made possible. The prototype is being exhibited at CeBIT 2009.
Digital media such as sounds or images augment the printed word and literally bring books to life. A device called an Eyetracker follows the reader's eyes and provides content-related feedback for the relevant part of the story.
