Contracting Versus Hiring
During these times it seems as if there just aren't enough employees to get it all done. A common reaction is to create another position or two and hire some full-time employees. But in many cases, the extra work is a temporary situation and hiring might not make the best sense since hiring means locking into a fixed expense. Contractors that are geared toward specific types of tasks can handle some tasks and projects. This is very common in the engineering, information technology, temporary labor and even management arenas. The next time you begin to consider hiring a full-time employee, ask yourself if the situation at hand will be a permanent or long-term one. If not, consider looking for a contractor to help with the project or extra workload.
